Things to Do
Marco Island and the surrounding area have activities year round, whether your goal is to relax, go-go-go, or somewhere in between. As a family we love chilling by the pool, but when we get out and about, here are some of the things we like to do.

Boating
Whether you like the power or the sail variety, the opportunities to get out on the water abound on Marco Island.
There are several marinas on the island where you can rent a speedy "power boat" or a pontoon boat to potter around the Marco River, and backwaters or cruise up to Naples on the Intracoastal for a spot of lunch. If you're lucky, the dolphins will surf your wake!
Watersports
Whether flying down the Marco River our out in the ocean Jetskis can be an exhilarating ride, but if you like something a little more sedate and maybe cast a line in the water at the same time, you can kayak the backwaters amongst the Mangroves.
Attend Local Events
There are a variety of events happening year round on and around the Island, from 4th of July on the Beach to farmers markets, shows and community give-back events. Check out What's Happening in the Marco Review.
Fishing
There are charters galore out of Rose Marina and other locations on the Island for backwater fishing or heading out on the ocean.
Our kids love to fish and this year we did a combo charter with just the 4 of us and the skipper. We headed out in to the gulf and caught Spanish Mackerel and then in to the backward to catch Bonnet Head sharks.
Experience the Wildlife
There is nowhere like Florida for the diversity of wildlife. We particularly love seeing dolphins daily, sometimes from our own dock, and if you keep your eyes peeled, you may be lucky enough to see one of our local Manatees.
Check out the Dolphin Explorer and Naples Zoo, in particular.
Take In a Sunset
Sunsets can be spectacular on Marco Island year round. Whether you head to a local beach, kayak in the backwater or sit by our Southwest facing pool, the sky will look amazing.
Airboat Tours
Marco Island sit just North of the Everglades National Park and is part of the 10,000 Islands group.
A short drive away you can take an airboat ride through the Glades and see some of the varied wildlife Florida has to offer... just keep hold of your hat!
Scuba Dive
I have been a Scuba diver for nearly 20 years. If like me you don't like to dive in cold water, you will love diving in the Gulf.
Many areas of along the Gulf Coast have been adding artificial reefs to encourage the growth of new corral and there are many small wrecks just off the coast.
If you are a novice, there are many dive operations that offer dive "experiences" and classes to get you Open Water certified.
Mini-Golf
There is no escape for us, our kids always want to hit the mini-golf courses, which are plentiful, both on the Island and around the greater Naples area.
